Happy Feet Govan - Nail Cutting Service
A brand new service for people aged 55+ in Greater Govan.
Mondays 11am-2pm at Men Shed Govan, 31 Arngask Road, Govan G51 4TR
£5 per session with a £5 one-off charge for your own foot care pack (clippers & file)

Johnstone Early Learning & Childcare Centre
Richard, John and John have been building play structures and raised beds for the children to enjoy their outdoor space. Lorita - Excellence and Equity Lead said “the structures that you have built for us and the resources provided, have not only enhanced children’s play but have helped transform our outdoor play areas contributing to an enriched learning environment that promotes the development of lifelong skills and learning for all our children, plus a pleasant setting for staff and families.” - July 23
Pirie Park Primary School
Gordon, Chris, James, Martin, and Bobby rebuilt the raised beds in the playground that had rotted. - May 23
Ronald McDonald House
Chris, Peter , Sarah and Scott have been clearing the weeds and planting bulbs and flowers, cutting back shrubs and generally tidying the garden for the families of children who are long-stay in the Children’s hospital and far away from home - May 23
Warm in Winter days
We provided Soup, a roll Tea Coffee and a cake and a warm place to be during the Cost of Lliving Crisis of Winter 23. We had 88 visits through the door - Jan /Feb 23
Horacio’s Garden/ Spinal Unit
Richard, John and John built a trolley for taking items around the patients on the spinal unit at Queen Elizabeth University Hospital - Dec 22
Paint the gates for South Western Allotments Association
Richard, John and Stevie rebuilt the wooden sign for SWAA and also brush down the old paint and repainted the big gates at the entrance to the allotments- June 22
Installation of Defibrillator
Bobby, Robert and electrician George put in a long shift on a Saturday installing the defib. Very happy to have it in place and ready for use. It is available for the whole community 24/7. For access, all you need to do is phone 999 when in front of the box and they will give you a code to open the box and take the defibrillator to where it is needed. The ambulance men will return it once it has been used. -July 22
Side garden transformed - spring 2022
The guys have turned this unpleasant dumping ground of a space into a beautiful community garden complete with Boules pitch. It has 6 vegetable raised beds and 4 flower raised beds potting shed, potting area with table and vertical planters on the railings.

The children were so interested and asked so many questions that he ran over his time slot by 1/2 an hour, but the teacher was quite happy that his talk had inspired such interest.
Sponsored event to raise funds for a Defibrillator
The members really wanted to have an defibrillator available for the community after a members brother-in-law sadly died of a heart attack when a defib could possible have saved him. This event helped to raise funds to buy and install the defibrillator.
Gordon’s Potting Table
A lady asked us to make her a potting table - Gordon made such a nice job of it he made one for us in our new community garden.
John’s Hedgehog Box
A lady from the Woodland Trust approached us to make a Hedgebox Box so this is the first prototype so far.
Making a “Bee Hotel” for Primary School.
The children were delighted to have a “Bee Hotel” in their playground as well as their new raised beds and benches made by Martin.
Helping with maintenance and repairs at Horatio’s Garden. Horatio’s Garden is attached to the Spinal Unit at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital and is for patient’s with long-term conditions who have to stay in hospital for months at a time. They have a lovely garden for them to enjoy and Men’s Shed Govan have been helping with sprucing it back up again.
Project to help St Constantines’s Primary School with their playground repairs and built planters for their garden.
July and November 2019 - D.W.T Cargill Trust and The Rotary Club Govan, contributed helpful funds to help us get connected to mains gas so that activities to reduce expensive costs of bottled gas.
November 2019 - The Robertson Trust donated generous funds for socialising, and connecting, continuing with our activities and arranging educational health screening talks. Due to COVID 19 pandemic we have only managed to do a few of these things but will be raring to go once restrictions are lifted.
December 2019 - We were delighted and very fortunate to be chosen by the Edrington Group to be the recipients of their annual Christmas fund-raiser. We received a valuable donation of unrestricted funds which are hard to come by. This means that we can use the funds for running costs and things that are not covered by grants, providing security to our cause.

As a result, we were thanked for our donations of produce to Urban Roots, free food project in the summer at “Moogety Grub Hub”and “Dig in”. We continue to grow vegetables and donate them to Urban roots as part of their Glasgow free food project to provide soup and hot meals to those who are struggling.

CCG/W H Malcolm monoblocked the shelter for us and now the outdoor shelter can be used as a band stand for music sessions, outdoor art classes, and shelter to do all kinds of projects outdoors.
